I received a letter from the IRS. What should I do?

Stay calm and give us a call. Receiving correspondence from the IRS can be an unsettling experience. We are here for you. The sooner we deal with an issue, the sooner you can relax knowing that your tax situation is settled.

Where's my refund?

Always the question you should be asking. We’ve provided links to the IRS and Oregon Department of Revenue websites under the resources tab that can provide you the best answer.

How long should I keep my tax documents?

We have included a link to the IRS webpage that details record retention requirements in the resources tab of our website. Please keep in mind: The more organized your records are now, the less stressful it will be if you are ever selected for an audit.

Should my company be structured as a Sole Proprietor, LLC or Corporation?

There are benefits and costs associated with each. What is most important to you? Simplicity? Liability protection? Give us a call, send us an email, or schedule an appointment.We’ll help you determine which structure is appropriate for your business.

What effects will the new tax law have on me?

It depends on your specific tax situation. The new law means changes for both personal and business deductions. Some of the biggest changes affect the deductibility of home equity loan interest, state and local taxes, and employee business expenses. Almost all taxpayers will experience some differences in their taxes for the upcoming season. What are the tax laws associated with selling my primary residence?

How often should I meet with my CPA?

It’s a good idea to meet with us on at least an annual basis. We preschedule meetings with each of our tax clients, each tax season. This appointment is included with the tax organizer we send out after Christmas every year.If you have a business or experience a significant tax event, we recommend that you meet with us in September or October so that we can facilitate tax planning to help manage your tax liability. We can help you avoid potential pitfalls, mitigate damages, or realize opportunities. We want to be a resource for you.Even if life is normal, we’d still like to check in. Our client relationships are important to us. If it isn’t practical to meet in person, we’re just a phone call away.
